Attractive black and white 16th-c coaching inn; rambling interior with beams and joists in low ceilings around a vast central stone chimneypiece, sturdy timber props, exposed stonework and well worn flagstones (one or two steps), Wye Valley Butty Bach, HPA and a guest, local cider and well liked food from lunchtime sandwiches up including themed nights, friendly staff; background and occasional live music, monthly quiz, July beer/cider/sausage festival; children welcome, dogs in bar, tables under parasols on terrace and in pleasant garden, seven modern bedrooms in converted coach house next door, open all day, closed Mon-Weds.
