Cross Keys

The good pub guide review

Unspoilt country pub in deep valley below the rolling wolds - popular with walkers (there's a drying room); cosy and relaxed L-shaped bar with fitted wall seats, well kept Tetleys and a couple of guests, generous uncomplicated blackboard food; no under-14s or dogs inside, views from big back garden, handy for Wharram Percy earthworks, comfortable bedrooms in converted stables, good breakfast, closed Mon-Thurs lunchtimes (unless pre-booked by walking group).
