Popular country dining pub with good sensibly priced food from regularly changing menu, friendly helpful staff, small bar area serving five well kept ales including Greene King from curved stone counter, good selection of gins too, log fire in comfortable dining lounge on right, another dining room to the left with quarry tiles, pine furniture and old cooking range; juke box; children welcome, dogs and muddy boots in some parts, seats out at front by quiet lane and in appealing garden behind (splendid views to the Roaches and Hen Cloud), good walks, open (and food) all day

A bit isolated but near Tittesworth reservoir, a popular walking circuit and near several good Staffordshire moorland walks. Food is always good (the French onion soup with oxtail at "starter" size is a full meal in itself". Menu changes regularly. Ales aplenty - many local.
