Busy country inn with waterside garden and moorings, civilised bar and dining rooms and a fine choice of drinks and food; bedrooms

?A perfect pub in a perfect location,' says one reader when describing this 17th-c inn on the banks of the Thames; there are moorings for six boats. The smartly refurbished bar has a large stuffed trout, exposed stone walls, beams and standing timbers, a woodburning stove with logs neatly piled to one side, leather armchairs and stools, scatter cushions on window seats, and wooden floors and flagstones. Upholstered stools line the blue-painted counter where courteous, friendly staff serve a beer named for the pub (from Ramsbury), Banks's Bitter, Ringwood Boondoggle and White Horse Black Beauty on handpump, ten wines by the glass from a wide-ranging, carefully chosen list, 21 malt whiskies and two farm ciders. Dining rooms have green-and-brown-checked chairs around a mix of nice wooden tables, fresh flowers and candlelight; the pale wood or blue-painted tongue-and-groove walls are hung with trout and stag prints, oars and mirrors. The pretty garden has good quality chairs and tables under parasols, and the six bedrooms (three open on to a small courtyard) are attractive and comfortable.

Can thoroughly recommend this as a superb place for Sunday lunch. The food and the table service were both excellent - but trying to order and pay at the bar was a bit of a scum! It was however a beautifully hot, sunny day and they were very busy!

Last Thursday my two friends and I visited this pub for their "Sausage Club". It was excellent. It is helfd every Thursday and you have a choice of three types of sausage and three types of mash. They had three real ales on. We had the Old Hooky and Youngs Special. Both were very good. The staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent. Regards, Ross Balaam.
