Busy pub, a good base for the area, with enjoyable food and friendly service; comfortable bedrooms

A friendly young couple run this bustling inn and our readers are enthusiastic with their praise on all aspects of the place. There's an area around the bar with pine tables and chairs but most of the pub, L-shaped on four different levels, is given over to diners, with neat light oak furnishings, ash beams and low ceilings to match; background music and board games. Brains Rev James, Felinfoel Double Dragon and Rhymney Bitter on handpump, 14 wines by the glass, 15 malt whiskies and two farm ciders. Attractive gardens feature colourful flower beds and mature trees and there are plenty of picnic-sets at the front. The four bedrooms are spotless and very comfortable and breakfasts are very good. You can walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the two beaches nearby are stunning.

We ate twice during a three night stay at the Inn, on the Thursday and Saturday. Although my wife was initially disappointed at the absence of a straightforward fish & chips on the board of the day's fish dishes, her sea bass fillets were perfectly cooked, and for our second dinner the chef "de-garlic-ed" one of the two vegetarian pasta dishes for her. My choices of sausages and lamb were both good portions and excellent. Starters and desserts, from a short list, were also good, there is a pleasant atmosphere, and the real ales are well kept.
