Rambling 15th-c pub (originally three cottages) in antiques quarter of historic market town; cosy split-level interior with low black beams and timbers, some old panelling and leaded windows, mix of furniture on bare boards, brick or tiled floors, Shepherd Neame ales and an occasional guest, decent choice of fair value food from sandwiches and wraps up, friendly service; background music (live Fri, Sat), quiz Mon, sports TVs, fruit machine; children welcome, tables in two courtyards behind, open all day, food all day Sat, till 5pm Sun.
