We chose the Bladebone for our Christmas party and couldn\'t fault it. The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. The food was incredible (normally Christmas meals can be a bit lacklustre, but here the menu was fantastic). Great wine list, will definitely be back.

Visited this pub on a busy Friday night for food and drink. A lively, friendly, well run pub, clean and quirky, with a good buzz. Staff are knowledgable and very helpful, ready with recommendations for menu choices and wine. Menu is outstanding with an excellent specials menu in addition. We started with lobster macaroni cheese and scallops with a beef ragout, both of which were hot, tasty and well presented. Our mains were 6oz fillet of beef and Thai fish, which were beautifully served and delicious. Lots of chat around the bar with locals finished off our evening. Great pub, in a great location.

Had lunch with friends after a 7 mile walk around the Common. Nice, large quirky table and a good choice of food with many of the ingredients turning up in a few dishes - great idea and ensures freshness. We all went with at least one of the "specials" and no two people had the same dish. Food and service was excellent and chef happy to modify one of the dishes as requested. Have already booked our next visit.

Just Stunning! Upon arrival we were greeted with friendly smiles and roaring fire just what was needed for a wet and windy afternoon. For a Wednesday lunch there was a great atmosphere within the pub and the staff really knew the dishes being served...we had starters of cream of mushroom soup with truffle and salt n pepper squid both went down a treat for main we were recommended to try the Lobster Mac & Cheese and what a treat! Truly superb dish and would highly recommend...although our stomachs were full we just had to have pudding and the pear frangipan was the perfect dish to end our meal. This place is just how a country pub should be warm and inviting but with some Superb food being served. The staff were very pleasant and nothing was an issue, all round a great afternoon out had by all and will be visiting again soon!

This comment relates to the Sunday roast lunch my wife enjoyed earlier today. Before our main course we were offered two cheese scones which were light and full of flavour. I ordered my beef medium rare. It was correctly presented as such and the generous slices were both tasty and tender. We were impressed with both the generous helpings and the variety of vegetables - roast spuds, broccoli, creamy leeks, red cabbage, carrots...and a extra Yorkshire pudding was thrown in for good measure. The vegetables all boasted good colour, were all cooked and full of flavour. The young staff were well marshalled, engaging and efficient. Overall a very enjoyable outing. Keep it up!

SUNDAY DELIGHT! Cold out.. Roaring fire within, atmosphere and food to match. Pre-booked table for for with the unusual option of being offered a drink at the bar before taking our awaiting table! amazing choice of wines for every pallet and ££££ with some big hitters on the menu including the double magnum corner which i will be returning for. the roast was imply the best ive had with the owner coming to the table and spend a lot of time talking about his suppliers, lovely to meet hard working chefs, obviously a popular figure as all tables wanting to talk & compliment the meals if you havent been go! best around by far with well deserved awards on show

We've just come back from Sunday lunch t the Bladebone and I have to say it was the best roast dinner I have had in years (and we do a lot of RDR - roast dinner research. The roast beef was superb, cooked exactly how I like it with plenty of slices and no chewy bits. Roast spuds gorgeous and golden on the outside, but white and fluffy on the inside. The yorkies Amazeballs and I loved the serving of veg done just right with extra gravy, yorky and roasties. I nearly always have to ask for extra gravy. Then I had the pear frangipani with clotted cream which was divine. The service was first class and everything was just so special. Thank you so much to all the team. You should be very proud.

I have been to the Bladebone several times now and this time surpassed the previous times which were amazing. The dishes I had were some of the best I have tasted and I have eaten in many Michelin star restaurants. We had beautiful home made cheese scones and glazed sausages which were a delicious nibble to start. I then had the Thai monk fish which had a kick but was superb. It was packed with flavour. My main I chose the halibut with creamed spinach and mash with ham hock Bon bons. This was absolutely beautiful. There were so many elements to the dish and they all complimented each other well. I followed with the profiteroles which was beautiful. The perfect end. Not only did tinge food taste unbelievably good the presentation was of such a high standard. Way above what you expect in a pub. More similar to a Michelin star restaurant in London.
