Welcoming 17th-c pub with good food cooked by landlord-chef, emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce (some home-grown), booking advised weekends, well kept ales including Sharps and a house beer from Yates, plenty of wines by the glass and some interesting home-made liqueurs, good friendly service, spacious bar and two front dining areas, beams, bare boards and slate floors, woodburner; children and dogs welcome in certain parts, garden with terrace and play area, shop selling home-made and local produce, limited parking, handy for the Model Village, open all day, closed Sun evening (except bank and school summer holidays)
