Upmarket 15th-c inn with much emphasis on hotel/restaurant side but also with unchanging tranquil little bar serving Brakspears Oxford Gold, North Cotswold Windrush Ale and Wychwood Hobgoblin, 15 good wines by the glass from a fine list, ten whiskies and quite a choice of teas and coffees, also several attractive low-beamed rooms with log fires in huge fireplaces, comfortable armchairs, sofas, dining chairs and antique tables, rugs on bare boards or ancient flagstones, antiques, prints and fresh flowers; accomplished modern cooking but currently limited to picnic boxes, pie menu and large selection of snacks; background music, board games; children and dogs (in bar) welcome, outdoor terrace with tables under parasols and 65-acre grounds with tennis, croquet and fishing on River Windrush, 15 characterful bedrooms.
