The good pub guide review

This bustling Regency corner pub in Primrose Hill is an elegant spot set over three floors. An airy dining room sits above the ground-floor main bar, which is open-plan and light with big windows looking out to the street, wooden tables and chairs on bare boards and plenty of high chairs against the counter. Sambrooks Wandle and a beer named for the pub (the Princess of Ales, also from Sambrooks) plus a changing guest ale on handpump, 22 wines by the glass, about a dozen malt whiskies and good cocktails from the in-house mixologist. The smarter dining room has beige- and white-painted chairs, leather sofas and stools around wooden tables on more bare boards, big gilt-edged mirrors and chandeliers; two TVs. The Garden Room downstairs has a bar, three connected areas and access to the suntrap garden with its Bansky-style mural, framed wall mirrors and picnic-sets (some painted pink and purple) under parasols.

The good pub guide food review

Well presented, modern food includes popcorn chicken with barbecue sauce, saltfish croquettes with tartare sauce, avocado and crayfish salad, salmon teriyaki with mixed peppers and broccoli, a home-made pie of the day, chicken curry, seafood linguine, a range of pizzas, and puddings such as raspberry and passion-fruit cheese cake and banoffi pie. There's also a separate vegan menu.
