Friendly old village pub freshened up and continuing well under new owners; good food from interesting varied menu (booking advised), well kept ales including Timothy Taylors Landlord, a dozen wines by the glass and 18 gins, helpful efficient service, roomy U-shaped beamed bar with woodburner, tartan carpeted book-lined dining room; children welcome, dogs in bar (resident lurcher is Ellie), disabled access, picnic-sets and rattan-style furniture out on gravel, country views and nearby walks, handy for Althorp House and Holdenby House, open all day, no food Sun evening
