Historic 500-year-old inn (Lakeland's highest pub) in rugged scenery at the top of the pass; flagstones, stripped stone and dark beams, lots of old photographs and bric-a-brac, open fires, enjoyable good value pubby food and well kept changing local ales, friendly efficient service; well behaved children and dogs (bar only) welcome, tables outside with stunning views to Windermere, wind powered, four bedrooms, basic bunkhouse, open all day in summer (till 6pm Sun), phone for winter hours.
