Good Pub Guide Recommended

Plenty of dining and drinking space in carefully refurbished rooms, excellent wines and inventive food; bedrooms

Excellent wines, impressive food and a genuine welcome all add up to this pub being held in consistently high esteem by our readers. The relaxed, friendly bar has white-painted beams, slatted and cushioned wooden benches and elegant chairs around a mix of tables on bare floorboards, pretty curtains, a large central barrel and chairs against the counter where they keep Dark Star Hophead, Fullers London Pride and Thurstons Horsell Gold on handpump. Wine plays a big role, with 20 by the glass from a fantastic list of around 500 (Iberia is the speciality); they also have several sherries, sweet wines and port, 30 malt whiskies, 20 gins and six vodkas. Do ask about the unusual clock. There's an extended restaurant and a lounge area with books on shelves and daily papers; Sunny and Teddy are the pub dogs. The pretty garden and terrace have plenty of seats for warm weather. Children are only allowed if dining with adults. Bedrooms are comfortable (one is dog-friendly and one has wheelchair access) and breakfasts are first class.

What the licensee says

We are a pub and restaurant with twelve boutique rooms situated on the A322 just two miles from the M3 J3. We have Fullers London Pride as our pouring bitter and another ale such as Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Thurstons brewery, Greene King IPA etc. It tends to be a sub 4% beer as many of our customers drive to us.After several reincarnations under our stewardship, The Inn is now tastefully rustic modern with a good pubby drinking area, comfortable reception and formal restaurant. The Inn has a pleasantly local/international feel as the boutique rooms attract use by friends of local people, golfers and shooters, business people and leisure travellers and the mix seems to work well. Open during the week from 7am for breakfast and also serving lunch and dinner as well as coffee / Tea and cake in the afternoon, there is usually a pleasant buzz about the place.www.the-inn.co.uk
