Good Pub Guide Recommended
Bustling pub with enjoyable food, a good choice of drinks, and pleasant back garden; bedrooms
Several knocked-through beamed bar rooms in this former coaching inn work their way around a big servery (where there are high chairs and stools against the counter), with grey-painted half-panelling, armchairs by a log fire in a stone fireplace, settles and window seats with scatter cushions, bare boards here and flagstones and rugs there, and a mix of farmhouse chairs and benches around wooden tables of all shapes and sizes. Church candles on shelves or in lanterns, antlers, prints and fresh flowers create interest. There's also a restaurant with another open fire. Flying Monk Elmers, Otter Amber and Ringwood Boondoggle and Razorback on handpump, 19 wines by the glass and nine gins; darts. There are plenty of seats and picnic-sets in the pleasant back garden. Bedrooms are individually furnished and comfortable and they also have self-catering cottages in a converted barn and stable block. The pub is handy for Westonbirt Arboretum. Disabled access.
