Good Pub Guide Recommended

Lovely spot for tranquil pub with character bar and dining rooms, attractive furnishings and well regarded food; bedrooms

Pretty little inn with a 17th-c heart and in a charming setting by the upper Thames. The small, traditional, beamed front bar offers a warm welcome from the convivial licensee, and has ancient flagstones and stripped-stone walls along with a woodburning stove, seats against the counter and a village pub atmosphere. A beer named for the pub (from Hook Norton), Black Sheep and Sharps Doom Bar on handpump, good wines by the glass and maybe farm cider. The dining room has elegant wooden or painted dining chairs around all sorts of tables, striped and cushioned wall seats, paintings on exposed stone walls, and rugs on the floor. Outside in the garden are seats and tables under parasols. Bedrooms are attractive, light and comfortable and breakfasts good. The Oxfordshire Cycleway runs close by and the inn is handy for Kelmscott Manor (open Wednesdays and Saturdays April-October). This is sister pub to the Five Alls at Filkins (also in Oxfordshire) and Bull in Fairford (Gloucestershire).
