Much extended beamed red-brick pub with series of small linked rooms, ochre walls and boarded ceilings, appealing old-fashioned and antique furnishings, hunting pictures and taxidermy, cavernous black hearth, well kept ales including cask-tapped Butcombe and Sharps, Weston's cider, good reasonably priced wines, some interesting malt whiskies and a couple of decent gins, enjoyable home-made food from sandwiches and basket meals up (no bookings except Sun lunch), good friendly service, big flagstoned conservatory; background music; no under-14s (in bars) or dogs, good disabled access, rustic furniture in neat garden with interesting topiary, flower-decked cider presses and lovely hanging baskets, nearby paths up wooded May Hill (NT), three self-catering lodges, closed Sun evening

Flower bedecked cider presses in pretty garden. Efficient, friendly service, excellent bar food including lunchtime sandwiches, ploughmans, and basket meals plus a selection of more substantial dishes such as steak and kidney in Yorkshire puds, chicken lasagne or curry. Doom bar & Butcombe from the barrel. Excellent walks through Newent Woods and over May Hill. Should be a main entry.

Brusque and rude staff when we visited for a drink after walking on May Hill. Not Dog Friendly Not Child Friendly. Won't be gonig back

Visited the much talked about Glasshouse Public House, having used it many years ago as a local. We could not book as there were only 3 of us, so we waited 2 hours before we actually started our meals, sat at the very table we had sat at 2 hours earlier with our drinks. Don't get me wrong , we were reassured several times that they wouldn't keep us much longer. As I said we couldn't book but "the now locals" came in and were greeted by the Landlord, being told that their table was ready through there, but there were only 2 of them, this happened more than once. NOT ON OUR LIST OF RE-VISITS.

V poor all round. Brusque anti client landlord who doesn't respond to phone or emails. Avoid going there Sunday lunch time! Just a few peas and carrots, inedible chips and all preprepared food including the apple pie which was awful. Go for a pie or curry, safest bet.
