Fabulous location with many great walks in the vicinity. However, pub somewhat let down by drab and tired interior and lacklustre service. We phoned ahead and booked a table by the fire (it was freezing cold), only to find the fire not lit, and when we asked if someone could light it we were told that everyone was busy (even though several members of staff appeared to have enough time to stand around chatting to each other). Management seem to be dealing with lack of ambience by playing 80s hits loudly throughout the pub, however the tracks appeared to repeat every 20 mins - there is only so many times you can listen to "Vienna" by Ultravox before it starts to grate... Summary: could do better....
