Refurbished village pub with simply furnished bar and dining rooms, well regarded food, own-brews and seats outside; bedrooms

This carefully restored 17th-c inn is a big hit with our readers. The bustling bar has beams and bare floorboards, high stools around equally high wooden tables, plush chairs and cushioned benches, and a good range of drinks that includes their own-brewed Boot Beer: Beast, Bitter, Clod Hopper, ESB, IPA, Repton Cross and Tuffers Old Boots. Also, a guest from another changing brewery and several wines by the glass served by friendly, efficient young staff. There's a dining room with antique-style chairs and tables and big doors that open on to the courtyard, plus a second room down a couple of steps with a woodburning stove. The split-level walled garden has wooden chairs and tables under parasols. Bedrooms are light and airy, comfortable and attractively furnished.

A lovely pub with some exceptional beer. Expensive. I have brought cheaper rounds in central London.

Outstanding exquisite country village pub tucked away just 50yds down from the Repton Cross. Superb Boot beers from their microbrewery just behind the pub. Ernest Session IPA was fantastic! Well appointed luxury bedroom (small sink in bathroom). Dinner was delicious. They are a rosette and former AA Pub of the Year. Far exceeded expectations on all levels. Small car park so had to park on road.
