Enjoyably civilised pub with appealing ancient interior, good carefully sourced food, a great range of drinks and a pretty garden with table service

?The best pub for miles around' and ?the happy, helpful staff always make you feel welcome' are just two comments from our readers about this particularly well run pub. The attractive interior ? with plenty of signs of the building's venerable age - is divided into five comfortable areas, each with its own character, from the cosy terracotta-painted bar to a light and airy gallery room with antique wood panelling, solid oak floor and contemporary Lloyd Loom chairs. Flagstone floors, stripped or well polished antique or period-style furniture and three good fires (one in an inglenook) add warmth and cosiness. You'll find Hobsons Best, Purity Bunny Hop, Pure Gold and Pure UBU and a guest beer on handpump and 18 wines (including prosecco and champagne) by the glass; background music. In summer, the virginia creeper-covered exterior is festooned with colourful hanging baskets. The lovely garden has solid teak furniture, a vine-covered terrace, water features and gentle lighting.

This is a gem and well deserves its rating on all counts - atmosphere, welcome and service. Five stars!

Visited for the first time on Fri on our way to Hereford. So good we came back the same way just to go there again.Really friendly staff & excellent food if not cheap. A good choice on both the main & specials menu from hot sandwiches thru' local sausage & mash/ fish n chips to speciality fish dishes & more. Two or three real ales & Thatchers cider on draught. Certainly living up to their reputation as the Warwickshire dining pub of the year. highly recommended.

We were on a week's narrow-boating holiday going down the River Avon and luckily discovered the Bell Inn one evening. We were looking for a good drink and a good meal after a hard day's work and we certainly found them at the Bell. Drinks-wise, there was an excellent selection of real ales and wines. Food-wise, the starters and main courses we had were both delicious. No room for dessert. The waiters/waitresses were outstandingly professional, knowledgeable and friendly without exception. We were so bowled over by the Bell experience, that we stopped off there again on the way back up the River Avon and experienced exactly the same all over again. Perfecto!

First tried the Bell as a result of its being dining pub of the year in the GPG. Have been back a number of times since and the food has been consistently outstanding. The service is fabulous and the prices for such a quality experience are really very reasonable indeed. The licensee and his staff truly care about their customers - it's so refreshing to go to a pub run by experienced professionals rather than kids. Highly recommended - go there before everyone finds out!

I had an evening meal here with my parents. I thought it would be great based on the reviews. We were disappointed. The service was good from the male waiter but the female (owner?) was poor. The soup was plentiful but bitter. The fish deal was good value. The haddock was better than the hake which a had an aroma of ammonia. I enjoyed my pork casserole which I recommend. We were overcharged for our wine which was corrected. The pint of lime and soda cost £1.85! I hope they read this and lower the price. Overall I was disappointed. It was not as special as I was lead to believe.

Excellent meal with friendly quality service and well maintained beer. Will certainly return and recommend to others

On a chance visit to The Bell a few years ago, I now visit regularly. The food is always excellent and the chef caters for individual requirements. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. This pub can cater equally well for small or large bookings and always gives the same good service.

friendly quality service with 5 star meals will return highly recommended.

Fantastic find-warm and cosy surroundings, lovely friendly staff and delicious food. A wonderful pub with a great choice of food and definately worth a visit if you are in the area.

Went for a Saturday lunch in a party of 3 couples. Food was excellent with service to match. Don't pass it by if you are looking for a meal and good ale.

I organised a surprise 60th birthday lunch for my husband last Saturday. We had 36 guests and everyone enjoyed the event enormously. I was very appreciative of Colin and Teresa's help to organize the event, they certainly made it stress-free for me and enabled me to also enjoy the afternoon. Everything was perfect. My husband had the time of his life and the feedback from everyone was so positive- they loved the venue, the party decorations, and thought the food was delicious. The staff were wonderful – very attentive but at the same time unobtrusive, all brilliantly master-minded by Emma. I cannot recommend The Bell highly enough as a venue for a celebration meal.

Nice!
