Opened-up and modernised gastropub opposite Royal Victoria Park (sister to the Duke of Cumberland at Holcombe); bar/kitchen area with a couple of easy chairs and small dining section, two further rooms (one down steps) with mix of furniture including some bench tables and old metal chairs, polished wood floors, pale grey walls and painted panelling, reclaimed floorboards used to clad one part, Butcombe, Sharps and a guest, Thatcher's ciders and good wines, much liked food at fair prices including weekday lunchtime/early evening deal, friendly helpful staff; background music; children and dogs welcome, partial wheelchair access, disabled loo, small decked terrace and raised beer garden, open all day, food all day Fri-Sun
