Neatly refurbished village inn at the centre of local life for 250 years with beamed, flagstoned bar with several tempting corners and two dining rooms with high panelled wainscoting; Ledbury Dr Rudi's Extra Pale and Wye Valley Butty Bach on handpump, seven wines by the glass, several gins (including local ones) and farm cider, interesting food cooked by chef-landlord from sandwiches up and set lunch menu; background music; children and dogs (in bar) welcome, picnic-sets on grass at back, four comfortable bedrooms and good breakfasts, Kilpeck Castle ruins and lovely Romanesque church nearby, also good surrounding walks including Offa's Dyke Path, open all day weekends, closes 5pm Sun.
