The good pub guide review

There's masses of choice for beer lovers at this traditional old pub. Up to nine (and as many as 14 in the past) quickly changing real ales ' well kept on handpump or tapped from the cask ' include Dartmoor Jail Ale, Exeter 'fraidNot, Otter Ale, Plain Inncognito, St Austell Tribute and Teignworthy Gun Dog; also, up to ten farm ciders and perries. The comfortable bar (with its own thatched roof above the counter) has traditional furnishings, an open fire and local photographs and country scenes on the walls, and you can be sure of a genuine welcome from the hospitable landlord and his cheerful staff. A large back dining room has beams and similar décor. There are picnic-sets in the garden and more out in front by the quiet street. Several of the comfortable bedrooms have Dartmoor views. Disabled access.

The good pub guide food review

Good quality, traditional food (special diets catered for) includes lunchtime sandwiches, pasties, ploughmans's, omelettes, pâté with caramelised onion chutney, sweet potato and spinach curry, scampi and chips, lambs liver with bacon and onion gravy, Thai prawn and cod fishcakes with chips, chicken curry, steak (rump or sirloin) with onions rings and chips, duck with home-made orange sauce, and puddings.
