18th-c pub named after a notorious highwayman who was hanged nearby; kentish ales and good helpings of enjoyable home-made food from shortish menu (can eat in bar or back restaurant extension), stone-baked pizzas to take away, friendly helpful staff; background and live music including some established folk artists, quiz second Tues of month, sports TV; children and dogs welcome, disabled access, seats out on decking, open all day (till 8pm Sun)
