Former 16th-c drovers' inn facing River Usk in lovely Black Mountains countryside ' charming views from tables on lawn; bar with solid furniture on tiles or carpet, woodburner in broad fireplace, a couple of Felinfoel beers, craft ciders, gin and whisky from nearby Glanusk Estate, several wines by the glass too, open-plan main area with beams, standing timbers and open fire in grey stonework wall, high-raftered restaurant with old cider press, good fairly pubby food at reasonable prices; background music, TV; children and dogs (in bar) welcome, play area in garden, handy for Tretower Court and Castle, closed Mon and Tues (also Weds in winter), open all day Thurs-Sun.
