Friendly village pub dating from the 17th c, informal, chatty bar with wood floor and exposed stone walls, railway memorabilia, farm tools and chamber pots, high-backed settles and leather sofa by woodburner, well kept Fullers London Pride, Sharps Doom Bar and a couple of guests, several wines by the glass, good food from varied menu, beamed restaurant and small orangery; children and dogs welcome, three acres of gardens, 12 comfortable bedrooms, good breakfast, open all day (till 9pm Sun).
