Birch Hall
Birch Hall
The good pub guide review
Tiny pub-cum-village-shop in beautiful steep valley village; two unchanging rooms with built-in cushioned wall seats, wooden tables, flagstones or composition flooring, unusual items like tube of toothpaste priced 1/3d and lots of pictures and photos; three well kept ales such as Black Sheep Best and North Yorkshire Beckwatter, local pies, cakes and bar snacks, exceptionally friendly service; dominoes and quoits; children (in small family room) and dogs welcome, benches in streamside garden, self-catering cottage, good walks (one along disused railway) and near Thomason Foss waterfall, open all day summer, closed Mon evening and Tues in winter.
