Hardwick Inn

The good pub guide review

Popular golden-stone pub dating from the 15th c at south park gate of Hardwick Hall (NT); several endearingly old-fashioned linked rooms including proper bar, open fires, fine range of more than 200 malt whiskies and plenty of wines by the glass, well kept Black Sheep, Chatsworth Gold, Theakstons and a house beer (Bess of Hardwick) from Brampton, wide range of good reasonably priced bar food plus carvery restaurant (all day except shuts at 7pm Sun), long-serving licensees (in same family for three generations), efficient friendly staff; unobtrusive background music; children allowed away from bar areas, dogs in one part, tables out at front and in pleasant back garden, open all day.
