Nice place, but more restaurant than pub; charming rustic layout with heavy beams, flagstones, antique pubby furnishings and fine inglenook log fire, crimson Victorian-style dining room, very good interesting food cooked by owner-chef using local and home-grown produce, cheaper set lunches Mon-Fri, helpful friendly staff, Brakspears Oxford Gold tapped from the cask (no counter), good wines, relaxed homely atmosphere; weekly live music often including established artists; children very welcome, big garden by Chilterns beechwoods, open all day, food all day weekends.
