Smart contemporary pub-restaurant on edge of Horsell Common; grey sandstone floor (and bar front), brown leather sofas and cushioned stools, two dining rooms with dark wood furniture, woodburners, good well presented food (can be pricey), Hogs Back and Sharps, friendly attentive uniformed staff; background music, TV; children welcome, dogs in courtyard only, good shortish walk to sandpits that inspired HG Wells's The War of the Worlds, seven bedrooms, open all day (till 6pm Sun).
