The good pub guide review

Remote fairly down-to-earth pub with Tudor origins; popular food (not Sun evening, Mon) from sandwiches up, five well kept ales including Shepherd Neame and Youngs and guests such as Ringwood, St Austell and Courage from brick-faced counter, friendly service, inglenook woodburner; quiz nights, live music nights; children and dogs welcome, tables in nice garden, beamed bedrooms with Romney Marsh views, lovely setting opposite ancient church (where Edith Nesbit, author of The Railway Children, is buried), popular with walkers and cyclists, open all day.
