The good pub guide review

Relatively unchanged since Dickens used it as a model for his Six Jolly Fellowship Porters in Our Mutual Friend; a proper traditional tavern with friendly atmosphere and good mix of customers, partly panelled bar with prints of actors, old local maps and pictures of the pub itself, elaborately etched windows, open fire, plates along a shelf, larger back area leading to small heated deck looking over the river towards Canary Wharf, Adnams, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylors and two guests, good value tasty bar food, upstairs evening restaurant (Mon-Sat) with more fine views; Mon quiz; no under-18s, dogs welcome in bar, open all day, food all day Sat, till 3.30pm Sun.
