Comfortable well divided beamed pub with lots of softly lit alcoves; Courage, Fullers and a guest, decent choice of wines by the glass and popular food from lunchtime sandwiches and light dishes up, friendly service, big log fire, pictures of the Queen and some steeplechase prints; background music; children welcome in restaurant, picnic-sets under parasols on terrace and in back garden, attractive village with ancient church, open all day (closes 6pm Sun).
