Crown

The good pub guide review

Substantial well modernised stone-built hotel in same small group as the Tobie Norris (also in Stamford, see Main Entries); good choice of popular food using local produce (some from their own farm), prompt friendly service, well kept ales from the likes of Fullers, Oakham and Timothy Taylors (can be pricey), lots of wines by the glass and cocktails, decent coffee and afternoon teas, spacious main bar with long leather-cushioned counter, substantial pillars, step up to more traditional flagstoned area with stripped stone and armchairs, restaurant; background music; well behaved children and dogs allowed, seats in back courtyard, 28 comfortable bedrooms (some in separate townhouse), good breakfast, open (and food) all day.
