Old Bank of England

The good pub guide review

Sumptuous conversion of Grade I listed Italianate building (former branch of Bank of England), splendid lofty bar with unusually high island bar counter, chandeliers, ornate plastered ceiling, lots of other areas off including balcony, McMullens cask ales, Rivertown on draught, decent wines, well presented popular food (including, appropriately for a venue situated between Sweeney Todd's barber shop and Mrs Lovett's pie shop, pies), always very popular ' closed and under refurbishment as we went to press, reports please.
