The good pub guide review
Grade II listed pub opposite Old Bailey on site of Newgate Prison (a couple of cells survive below), big copper lanterns outside, fine ornate high-ceilinged Victorian interior with three or four snug areas, Fullers ales and good selection of gins from horseshoe bar, snacky food such as sausage rolls and toasties; popular with after-work drinkers, open all day, closed Sun.
