George

The good pub guide review

Georgian hotel at hub of this appealing small town; pubby bar with exposed joists, bare stone walls, old tiles and big flagstones, antique settles, carved wooden benches and cushioned stone slabs along the walls, four log/peat fires, up to three changing ales such as Fyne Ales Jarl and Inveralmond Lia Fail, 120 malt whiskies, good food in bar or smarter restaurant, conservatory; children and dogs welcome; plenty of seats on well laid-out terraces, 17 bedrooms plus eight in adjacent house, Inveraray Castle and walks close by, can get packed in high season, open (and food) all day.
