Black Boy

The good pub guide review

Wonderfully eccentric décor at this chatty old-fashioned pub, floor-to-ceiling books, lots of big clocks, mobiles made of wine bottles or spectacles, variety of stuffed animals including a baboon, donkey and dachshund, two open fires, orange-painted room with big oriental rugs on red floorboards, also a barn room with open hayloft, five well kept local ales, real cider and good selection of gins (weekend gin bar), decent straightforward home-made food (not Sun evening, Mon) from sandwiches up, cheerful service; table football and board games; supervised children and dogs welcome, slate tables out in front and seats on attractive secluded terrace, ten bedrooms in adjoining building, open all day.
