Butchers Arms

The good pub guide review

16th-c low-beamed black and white pub surrounded by a pretty streamside garden with picnic-sets and new covered 'dining pods', built-in red-cushioned wall seats, farmhouse chairs and red-topped stools around a mix of old tables (some set for dining) on carpet, hunting and horse pictures on the cream walls and an open fire in the big fireplace; similarly furnished little beamed dining room, Breconshire Golden Valley, Wye Valley Bitter and Butty Bach and a couple of changing local beers on handpump, first-rate food cooked by the landlord using rare-breed meats and other carefully sourced produce; children and dogs welcome; usually closed Sun evening, Mon and Tues.
