Anchor

The good pub guide review

Built around 1830 to serve the Shropshire Union Canal and little changed in the century or more this family has run it; two small simple front rooms, one with a couple of fine high-backed settles on quarry tiles, Wadworths 6X and Weston's cider, sandwiches on request, owners' sitting room behind bar; outbuilding with semi-open lavatories (swallows may fly through); no children inside, lovely garden with hanging baskets and notable topiary anchor, small shop, moorings (near Bridge 42), caravans/camping, closed Mon-Thurs in winter.
