Popular stone-built village pub with very good well priced traditional food; L-shaped carpeted main bar, lots of close-set cushioned dining chairs and tables, open fires, little heraldic shields on the walls along with 19th-c song sheet covers and lithographs of Queen Victoria, delft shelf of blue and white china, smaller bar on left with built-in red banquettes and cricketing prints, life-size portrait of Elizabeth I in lobby, well kept Black Sheep, Roosters and Theakstons, ten wines by the glass and good range of spirits, efficient friendly service; background music; children welcome, seats in neatly kept sunny back garden, benches in front by lane, eight bedrooms, open all day Sun.
