The good pub guide review

Traditionally refurbished 19th-c backstreet local tied to Joules ' was tap for the Bass brewery and still has some wonderful ephemera including mirrors and glazed adverts; homely and warm with coal fire, straightforward front parlour, back bar doubling as tap room with their beers, up to half a dozen guests (including Bass) and good selection of ciders/perries, cheese boards, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and pies only but can bring your own food (or take beer to next-door curry house); live music including monthly acoustic and open mic nights, folk Tues; children (till 7pm) and dogs welcome, small back garden; closed all day Mon, till 5pm Tues (and Wed in winter).
