Deacon Brodies

The good pub guide review

Atmospheric corner pub commemorating the notorious town councillor thief who was eventually hanged on the scaffold he'd designed; very busy bar with wonderfully ornate high ceiling, seven well kept ales including regulars Nicholsons Pale Ale (brewed by St Austell) and Stewart 80/-, decent selection of whiskies from long counter, reasonably priced Nicholsons menu in upstairs dining lounge where children allowed, friendly hard-working staff; background music, TV; open (and food) all day.
