Friendly well run Jacobean inn with interesting history; beamed and carpeted bar (popular with locals), fine plaster coat of arms above woodburner, lounge/reception area with huge fireplace, four changing regional ales and enjoyable home-made food including good range of pies, restaurant; sports TV, children and dogs welcome, also cycle-friendly, nice big side garden, 22 bedrooms (some in new extension), open all day.

Don’t be deceived into thinking Gosforth Hall is just another Lakeland located Cumbrian Hotel, it is in fact a rare find of a 350 year old Grade II* listed building operating as a warm and inviting Inn - offering 9 en-suite bedrooms, a pub with very well kept real ales and a menu offering a choice of dishes including Rod's homemade and well respected pies. A two bedroomed self catering lodge is also available next door. Dogs are allowed both in the lodge, and the Bar in the InnOnly a short drive to the Wadale Valley, with Wastwater and Scafell Pike - voted by you as the 'Best view in Britain'
