Case Is Altered

The good pub guide review

Convivial unspoilt old cottage licensed for over three centuries; well kept ales including Old Pie Factory and Wye Valley served by friendly long-serving landlady, no food (can bring your own sandwiches), simple small main bar with fine old poster of Lucas Blackwell & Arkwright Brewery (now flats), clock with hours spelling out Thornleys Ale (another defunct brewery), and just a few sturdy old-fashioned tables and a couple of stout leather-covered settles facing each other over spotless tiles, roaring log fire, modest little back room with old bar billiards table (takes sixpences); no children, dogs or mobile phones; full disabled access, stone table on little brick courtyard, closes 7.30pm Sun.
