Caunton Beck

The good pub guide review

Reconstructed low-beamed dining pub (on site of 16th-c tavern) made to look old using original timbers and reclaimed oak; scrubbed pine tables and country kitchen chairs, open fire, four ales such as Batemans and Oakham JHB and a couple of beers from sister pub's microbrewery (see Bottle & Glass at Harby), more than two dozen wines by the glass, generally well liked food from breakfast on, cheerful if not always speedy service; daily newspapers; children and dogs (in bar) welcome, seats on flowery terrace, handy for A1, open (and food) all day from 8.30am.
