The good pub guide review

Every inch of this welcoming village pub ' run by the same friendly family since 1978 ' is covered in appealing bric-a-brac. There are two cosy main rooms. The little room on the left, a bit like an old kitchen parlour (called the Cabin), has china on the mantelpiece, lots of prints and photographs, three old cast-iron tables, wooden stools and a small stripped kitchen table. The room to the right has attractive stripped panelling. The small back 'Best' room is good for private meetings and doubles as a gift shop selling home-made gifts (which sell for charity). The cheerful staff serve well kept ales such as Fullers London Pride and Marstons Pedigree plus a changing guest beer on handpump; background music and board games. There are plenty of seats in front of the pub, with more in the peaceful back garden. Do check the unusual opening and food service times carefully.

The good pub guide food review

Themed food nights provided by local street-food vans ' to eat in or take away ' include fish and chips on Monday, pies on Tuesday, pizzas on Wednesday, US burgers on Thursday and 'loaded fries' on Friday; on Saturday, customers can bring their own food to eat in the pub.
