The good pub guide review

This place is a beer-lover's dream, as you get to view the brewing process as well as sample a good range of Black Sheep beers. The bar is located in the huge upper warehouse where they keep Black Sheep Ale, Best, Golden Sheep and Riggwelter plus several other changing Black Sheep beers such as Special and Twilighter on handpump, several wines by the glass and a fair choice of soft drinks. The rest of the place is more like a bistro than a pub ' the contemporary furnishings are light and attractive with high wooden chairs around equally high tables on stripped floorboards and a good deal of bare woodwork, with cream-painted rough stonework and green-painted steel girders and pillars; background music, TV and friendly service. The guided tours of the brewery are popular and a glass wall lets you see into the brewing exhibition centre; a shop sells beers and beer-related items from pub games and T-shirts to pottery and fudge. There are picnic-sets out on the grass.

The good pub guide food review

Good quality food includes sandwiches, a choice of beef, vegan, chicken, cheese and halloumi burgers with chips and slaw, stone-baked pizzas, smoked half rack of ribs, smoked charred chicken wings, haddock and dill fishcakes, sharing plates, beer-battered haddock and chips, pesto pasta, paneer and vegetable pie with salad, braised beef brisket with mash and tenderstem broccoli, and puddings such as apple pie with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate brownie.
