The good pub guide review

The relaxed, friendly bar in this bustling pub has plenty of cricketing memorabilia (the place is named after the founder of Lord's Cricket Ground): bats, gloves, balls, stumps, photographs and prints, and even stuffed squirrels playing the game in a display cabinet above the counter. Also, a leather chesterfield and armchairs beside a log fire, wooden chairs and corner settles on parquet flooring. Beers include Crafty Ales IPA with guest appearances from Flowerpots and Triple fff, served by chatty, helpful staff. Several others bar and dining rooms have similar furnishings and open fires. The sizeable garden has lovely herbaceous borders, picnic-sets, an outdoor pizza oven and barbecue area, a chicken run and a kitchen garden ' produce from which shows up on the menu. There are five well equipped wood cabins with french windows on to a little seating area, perfect for Hampshire staycations.

The good pub guide food review

Enjoyable food using local seasonal produce includes mushroom sharwama with pickles and rocket, panko-breaded squid, a fish of the day, gnocchi with triple cheese sauce, basil and truffle oil, beef, chicken or plant burger with fries, half roasted chicken with roasted garlic aoli, barbecue sauce or hot sriracha butter and skin-on fries, and puddings such as chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and local ice-creams.
