The good pub guide review

Large windows at the back of this Brunning & Price pub look over the terrace and sizeable garden with their seats and tables out to sea and the dramatic Great Orme headland beyond Llandudno, framed in summer by award-winning flowering tubs and hanging baskets. A fine choice of drinks served by knowledgeable young staff includes Phoenix Brunning & Price Original, Purple Moose Snowdonia Ale and Timothy Taylors Boltmaker plus three quickly changing guests such as Castle Rock Elsie Mo, Jennings Cumberland and Montys Masquerade on handpump, well chosen, good value wines, prosecco and champagne (including almost 30 by the glass) and 40 malt whiskies; board games and background music. If you'd prefer to be inside rather than out, extending around the three long sides of the bar counter you'll find welcoming open fires, oriental rugs on pale stripped boards, a mix of seating and well spaced tables, shelves of books, a profusion of pictures, big pot plants, careful lighting and dark green, old-fashioned school radiators.

The good pub guide food review

The varied menu offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Dishes include wild mushroom risotto, rump steak sandwich and fries, chicken caesar croquettes, five-spiced duck leg with hoisin sauce and pancakes, crispy beef salad with sweet chilli sauce and roasted cashew nuts, buttermilk chicken burger and fries, chicken, ham and leek pie with mash and buttered greens, sweet potato, aubergine and spinach Malaysian curry with coconut rice and pak choi, and puddings such as glazed lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and hot waffle and caramelised banana with toffee sauce and coconut ice-cream.
