The good pub guide review

A highly rated dining pub, the Unruly Pig is also notable for its expertly curated wine list. With almost all of the 60 varieties available by the glass, including vegan and organic options, it allows for satisfying explorations and food pairings. There are a few classic bottles for the buffs, but in general it's an eclectic and approachable mix ' as are the customers in this friendly and relaxed place. The bar has button-back leather wall seats, black leather dining chairs, simple tables, rugs on floorboards, woodburning stoves and contemporary seats against the counter where charming, courteous staff serve Adnams Southwold and Mosaic on handpump, cocktails, home-made cordials and interesting non-alcoholic drinks for drivers. The various linked dining rooms have beams and standing timbers, modern art and photos of well known pop stars on painted panelling, more up-to-date leather chairs and banquettes and rugs on bare boards; background music. There are seats and tables under cream parasols on the front terrace and they have bicycle racks. The pub is just a few minutes' drive from Sutton Hoo (National Trust).

The good pub guide food review

An alumnus of Gordon Ramsay, head chef Dave Wall's fairly priced 'Britalian' food is technically accomplished, beautifully presented and big on taste. There is a set menu, a Saturday brunch and Sunday roasts in addition to an à la carte. As well as lunchtime sandwiches, dishes might include burratina with lovage and parsley pesto, duck liver parfait, octopus with nduja ravioli, ink and miso dressing, various burgers, braised beef shin ragout with bucatini pasta and parmesan, risotto with courgette, basil, tomato, black olives and mozzarella, and puddings such as pannacotta with espresso, chocolate and caramel.
